Daniel began his career in community organizing and education management. He worked on the low-wage worker Fight for $15 campaign that was well known across the country. He has helped start more than 25 charter schools in Chicago and Philadelphia. In that time Daniel realized that he enjoyed project-based work shifted his career to project management. He has worked in various project roles in construction and engineering, leading projects for clients like Verizon and AT&T FirstNet. He later moved on to become a Project Leader in Security Governance at AIM Specialty Health accountable for leading projects to attain and maintain various security certifications. He is currently a manager in Data Analytics in Supply Chain.  

 

 Daniel has a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University, and he is currently enrolled at the University of Maryland Global Campus pursuing his master’s degree in Information Technology with a concentration in Project Management. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He also enjoys playing the drums, traveling, cooking, and large amounts of coffee.

Betty Summers Reeder is a proud 1st generation Haitian American.  She brings over twenty years of experience in non-profit management and organizational administration to the Haitian American Professionals Network. Fiscal operations and grant management, program execution and coordination, and community involvement methods are all areas where Betty excels.

​

As a Consultant, Betty works with small local minority businesses to build capacity and grow.  Betty is a graduate of the University of Illinois – Chicago and she has a passion for serving the underserved.

Sabine Fleming

Sabine Fleming is Co-Founder, Past President, and Past Vice President of HAPN. Currently, she serves as Secretary during the rebuilding phase of the organization. She is dedicated to and enthusiastic about HAPN’s objective of celebrating our rich Haitian culture while connecting the Haitian community via various networking activities. In addition to her volunteer role with HAPN, she volunteers as a Study Group Facilitator within Chicagoland’s Project Management Institute, assisting certificate-bound participants prepare for taking the exam.


Sabine graduated from the University of Illinois, Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts degree in French Business Studies has completed MBA coursework, and has attained her 6 Sigma Greenbelt certification and Project Management Professional certification. She currently works as Business Development and Sales Manager within the chemicals industry. In addition to her commercial responsibilities, Sabine manages and leads several product launches projects for her business unit. She has more than 25 years of experience in various commercial roles from sales, business development to marketing with regional and global responsibilities.

Wandah Summers Hardy

Wandah is an American, but what makes her special is that she is of Haitian descent. She was born on the West side and raised on the Southside of Chicago. Educated in the Chicago. A Catholic through and through.  A Loyola University of Chicago graduate and post graduate studies at Roosevelt University. She is a mother, sister, and friend to many.

Carlyn is a purchasing professional with over 20 years’ experience in procuring various goods and services in both the public, private sectors. Her first job out of college was as the Benefits Coordinator for Johnson Products Company, the makers of Ultra Sheen, Afro Sheen and other hair care products. A subsequent job in retail as an assistant store manager sparked my interest in being a part of the process of getting the merchandise into the store. She soon found herself working at Montgomery Ward’s downtown buying offices. 

 

From there Carlyn went on to purchasing various machine parts for a printing press manufacturing company in Westmont, Illinois. Her buying career shifted to the public sector in 2002 when she became a buyer at the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, manager of Chicago’s McCormick Place and Navy Pier. Carlyn has remained in the public sector working at Chicago Housing Authority, Gary Public Transportation Authority and currently as Vendor Contract Manager for Cook County’s Bureau of Technology. Though she has learned a great deal in the various positions she's held over the years, she appreciates the sense of responsibility, accountability and satisfaction that comes with making fiscally sound decisions using taxpayer dollars. She is a graduate of Loyola University of Chicago and live in south suburban Flossmoor raising 3 teen aged boys. 

Marielle Sainvilus

Marielle helps oversee both internal and external communications, with particular focus on Booth’s campuses in North America and Asia. Her responsibilities include media relations, crisis and emergency communications, and other content-related PR and marketing initiatives promoting the school.

Over the past decade, Marielle has held a number of leadership positions in communications, including press secretary for Chicago Public Schools, assistant press secretary in the Office of the Governor of Illinois, and as the director of public affairs for the University of Chicago. Most recently, Marielle took on the task of communications director for the Mayor of Chicago’s first 100 days in office, ensuring communications alignment between all city departments and agencies. 

Patrick Brutus

Patrick, who waged two campaigns to become a member of the U.S. Congress in the Democratic Primary in 2013 and 2016, has successfully applied his knowledge gained in the public sector to helping those in need at the local community level by working together with area stakeholders on economic and community development concerns and policy issues. With Patrick’s strong ability to work with decision-makers and the many relationships developed during his years in service, Patrick has been able to make an impact with civic groups and leaders, resulting in significant assistance provided to many in the Chicagoland region; resulting in him being a frequent expert speaker/panelist at various events and forums.

Patrick Brutus is an award-winning proven leader with over 25 years of experience in the public sector serving the people of Illinois.  While he previously spent 11 years with the Illinois Department of Transportation working on infrastructure projects in the Division of Highways and Division of Aeronautics, he currently works for the City of Chicago managing business development programs that increase the economic vibrancy in Chicago’s business districts.  During his 15 years with the Department of Planning and Development, he has led projects that transformed communities, addressed affordable housing issues and leveraged public resources to create opportunities for job training and job creation with Chicago companies.  Simply put, Patrick is a man of and for the people.  

Tomorris Jocelyn

Tomorris is a Vice President of Commercial Banking at BMO Harris Bank. Tomorris has spent his career as a commercial banker working with middle-market businesses ($10 million to $1 billion in revenue). Tomorris provides ideas, strategies, and solutions to meet the business and financing needs of companies across industries.  He is a seasoned banking professional, with a depth of experience in commercial lending, credit structuring, financial analysis, and portfolio management. He provides guidance to simplify complex financial challenges. With a consultative, relationship-oriented approach, and a wide array of industry contacts, Tomorris is a trusted advisor to his clients.

Tomorris volunteers at the DuSable Museum as well as organizes career exposure programming for KIPP One Academy. He earned his BBA in Finance from the University of Iowa. Tomorris resides in the South Loop neighborhood of Chicago with his wife, Briana, and their son, Palmer.
